The school is outward looking and invests in the partnerships and memberships that support our development.
The National Association of Special Schools aims at improving opportunities and standards for special schools outside of local authority control. Our Headteacher, Melissa Farnham, is currently the Deputy Chair of NASS and both her and the School Business Manager regularly attend meetings.
We work in a Triad of schools to support and share experience at all levels of staff. The Hope Centre and Sunnydown School are our partners in a mutually beneficial support mechanism of similarly minded special needs schools.
Swiss Cottage Teaching School Alliance
We have a long standing relationship with the Swiss Cottage team and are part of their teaching school alliance which aims at sharing skills, experience, talent and capacity to help improve and achievement of young people.
COINS and DFN Foundations
We partner in a number of the initiatives of our supporting foundations, the COINS and DFN Foundations. An example of which is their funding to the Waverley Para Games – an opportunity for SEN students across the borough to access disability sport.
COINS also support the Cookie Bar, a concept of social enterprise that is looking to expand to support other schools and international projects. The school works closely with the COINS Foundation and many of our families volunteer there.
The DFN Foundation is now looking at new projects to combat the appalling figures on employment for those with a disability. They have teamed with Think Forward to plan a project which will see schemes of work and mentoring for SEN students leaving school into the workplace. The school will work in close cooperation with the DFN Foundation in this initiative.
